About the tribe

Green Marketing or Green Washing?

We are a group of people fighting to make a difference. Together we form the TRIBE Media tribe. It means a lot to us that you know who we are – both individually and together as a tribe.

Not just by name. No, we want to make it more personal. That’s why we’ve taken the trouble to introduce ourselves and give you an insight into what kind of green marketing and web geeks we are.

What does TRIBE do for sustainability?

Above all, we hope to inspire - not point fingers. That's why TRIBE itself has implemented measures to make a difference. We are far from the finish line - but we have started the journey.

TRIBE has one heart – green transition! For us, sustainability is about doing something all around for climate, environment, biodiversity as well as social aspects. That’s why we’re all taking part, individually and together, in the fight for a more sustainable world. Specifically, TRIBE has implemented a number of actions.

When we buy shares through the company, we only support green companies.
When we donate to good causes, we only choose associations and foundations that have a sustainable focus.

Primarily, we support green start-ups and scale-ups every year. Among others, We Use. In addition, we also support organizations that support social initiatives. For example
Mind Your Own Business

s
which helps young people in residential areas through entrepreneurship or
The Foundation For Entrepreneurship
which promotes entrepreneurship and innovation in secondary education.

2021 will be the year the tribe plants Denmark’s first
Lommeskov
. The forest is being made using the method developed by Professor Miyawaki, and is specifically designed to promote biodiversity. Our goal is to support with 4 Lommeskove annually from 2022.

When the tribe meets for a company party, lunch meeting or similar, only plant-based food is purchased for all employees. Products from animals are of course welcome, but at your own expense (-:

Whenever we can, we buy recycled furniture and equipment. The office has recycled furniture, while the tribe provides raised desks and monitors for each employee in the office as well as the home office. In addition, we have video and photo equipment, which we also always try to find out if we can buy second-hand. Here we are far from the finish line, as quality always comes first, which is why used video equipment is not always sufficient.

Although our website “only” emits the equivalent of 2 trees per year, we have actually planted a 2030 forest of 16m2 with 60 plants. In addition, our goal is to create two 2030 forests per year of 50m2, each with 150 plants.

Road map / milestone plan towards 2030

Below is the tribe’s path to being a more sustainable marketing agency itself.
Each year we update the plan and report on progress.

2022
Material recycling
Repair and upcycle all our own hardware (furniture + electronics)
Upcycling hos TRIBE Media

Challenges for implementation
If spare parts are not available
Something does not work optimally due to failure

Success criteriaSpend time searching for upcycling

2023
Clean water
Influencing the landlord to take action

Challenges for implementation
Price. If it's more expensive for the landlord → should we pay?

Success criteria
Persuade landlord to make a plan + start implementing e.g. water saving, avoid spraying weed control and use environmentally friendly cleaning products

2024
Waste management
Employees receive waste sorting training
upcycling af produkter hos TRIBE

Challenges for implementation
That resource sorting does not mean the same thing to all people.

Success criteria
All employees become more aware of resource sorting and how much it can actually benefit the environment.

2025
Clean energy
Get clients to use green power
rent energi

Challenges for implementation

Loss of customers
Difficult to persuade customers to implement it
How do we communicate the requirements in a good way?
Will customers change these things to work with us?

Success criteria
That customers demand green power

2026
Materials Health
All materials we use are free of harmful substances for humans and nature
materialesundhed tribe media

Challenges for implementation
Finding a comprehensive course for staff and implementation in everyday life.

Success criteria

That all new and existing items we use are free of harmful substances.

2027
Social responsibility
100% fair trade products whenever possible
social ansvarlighed tribe media

Challenges for implementation
Credibility and accessibility.

Success criteria
Whatever the purchase, big or small, we check availability for fairtrade.

2028
Transport
Sponsor bus and train tickets for clients coming to the office
bæredygtig transport tribe media

Challenges for implementation
If customers don't want to take the train to meetings.

Success criteria
If we can motivate customers to take the train/bus rather than the car. Carpooling could be good alternative.

2029
Packaging
Be 100% circular with packaging whenever possible
emballage håndtering tribe media

Challenges for implementation
Difficult challenge. It's about actively checking manufacturers and seeing how they handle packaging.

Success criteria
Document our handling of packaging. This also allows us to use it in our communication and shows transparency.

2030
Transport
Demand customers use sustainable transport
elektrisk offentlig transport tribe media

Challenges for implementation
If the customer does not share our values, as well as low practical challenges.
Loss of customers - both existing and new.

Success criteria
Optimally, this would be a requirement before starting the collaboration, which may lead to the loss of a potential customer, so in some cases it may be more beneficial to introduce it during the collaboration.

The above was just a small selection of our comprehensive milestone plan towards 2030. See the rest of the plan here and feel free to take inspiration or give us feedback.

Who is TRIBE Media?

Meet the tribal chiefs below

Inspiring others is important to us – pointing fingers doesn’t help.

That’s why we’ve made our about section a little different. Each employee highlights the impact each person has on climate, environment and sustainability with 3 things that make a positive difference and 3 things that could be done better.

So you also see that we are far from perfect. It illustrates well why we started Green Marketing.

All are welcome. Everyone can make a difference. We all just need to start somewhere, and communicate the journey.

Benjamin Bosman Knutsson Eg

Green CMO / Marketing Manager

Besides loving digital tools, marketing and communication, I have a green fire burning inside. In my world, marketing and sustainability are linked because they can help companies strategically. That’s why we developed the Green Shortcut. Why have I chosen the above 3 positive things? Because I found it’s the easiest way a private individual can make the biggest difference to the climate, environment and biodiversity crisis. The next step will be to buy a Tesla (-:

Nicolai Lyhning Jensen

Web Developer

Technology, computers and web development I really can’t get enough of. My interest in the technical comes perhaps from my father who is a watchmaker and who for over 25 years ran his business Ole Jensen Watches in Kolding. My whole childhood I grew up with the idea of repairing instead of buying new. The difference between my father and me, however, is that digital takes up much more of my time. That’s why I like building and repairing websites.

Louise Bosman Knutsson Eg

Data analyst and copywriter

I currently work at Ewii Energi as an analyst, where I play with green energy and transition. In other words, the sustainability aspect plays a big role for me.
At Tribe, I’m the owner, data analyst and help with strategic decisions. That’s why it means a lot to me that TRIBE is a place where everyone can be exactly who they are, adapted to their life and everyday life. In addition, I really like copywriting, which I help the boys with from time to time. (-:

Rasmus Flohr Pedersen

Videographer and photographer

In addition to being a videographer and photographer for the tribe, I studied at IBC in Kolding. Here I learned about economics but also information technologies, from which my interest in video may have come. In addition, I played with my own YouTube channel when I was younger, so storytelling through a camera has always been a big part of my life. As for sustainability, I’m perhaps not the greenest. On the other hand, I think about it in my everyday life, and am glad I can still be a part of TRIBE despite not being such a plant hippie like some of the others (-:

Line Raeder Berndsen

Web designer

In addition to working with web design at TRIBE Media, I have studied Multimedia Design in Kolding. Through the training I was confirmed that the creative side of web design was what I loved to work with. In everyday life, the environment and sustainability are at the back of my mind, in terms of food waste and sorting, saving water, and transport options from a to b.

Clara Barsøe Jeppesen

Communications Officer

I am the tribe’s communications officer and as the name suggests, I am responsible for part of TRIBE’s communications and all the creative that goes with it.

Communication is a company’s most important tool, which is why I think I have the most interesting position here. Next to my studies, I am studying my last semester as a marketing economist at IBA Business Academy, where I will continue my studies after the summer with a focus on marketing.

Sustainability is part of my everyday life in the sense that I am committed to a sustainable and healthy diet that is good for both the body and the environment. That’s why organic and free-range meat is probably my most sustainable choice in everyday life. Not only is healthy and sustainable eating an important issue on several parameters, but it is also a natural and easy choice most people can make if they want to make the transition to a more sustainable lifestyle.

Mie Bonde Georgi

Student Assistant

I’m one of the tribe’s creative minds. I am currently studying Communication at the Danish School of Media and Journalism, where I am introduced to various tools that benefit me in my work at TRIBE. I’m passionate about SoMe and copywriting, and I love coming up with silly new ways to think about green marketing. At TRIBE, my part-time position is also as a mother to the boys, so that tasks are completed on time.

I think sustainability in my everyday life in terms of recycling and food waste, but I definitely feel that we can all learn more about sustainability in general.
